Comment "likes"

I often click on the "like" button if I read a comment on a thread in the forums.
Does anyone get a notification if someone "likes" a comment they made?
I've never gotten any type of notification of anyone "liking" one of mine so either it's a meaningless gesture or no one has ever "liked" one of my comments.\

I suspect it's like that "Press Button to Cross" thing at pedestrian crosswalks.
