It sounds like you should to me, and I recommend that you do. However, you have the right to be choosey, and you should. Just don't be TOO choosey or it will never happen. You do want to have someone you are comfortable with and have reasonable expectations of "safety" from. There are no absolute guarantees when it comes to "safe" sex. Having said that, and accepting it, I advocate doing it "bareback" for the extra stimulous effect for all concerned. Having exercised reasonable care in selecting the new partner, the chances of complications should be minimal.
